Q. What is Upper Cervical Health care?
A.
The head rests on a bone at the top of your neck.  This bone is the atlas. Right below the atlas is the axis. These two bones have an opening in them to allow for the brain stem and spinal cord to exit down.  Located here is the central nerve system.  The brain stem contains trillions of nerve tracts.  BJ Palmer, the developer of chiropractic and founder of this technique determined that when there was a misalignment of the atlas or axis in this area pressure was put on the brain stem thereby causing a breakdown in communication between the brain and the body.  This caused the body to function less than optimally and dis-ease would ensue over time.

Q.
Is there a twisting of the neck when the adjustment is given?
A.  No.
Q.  I've heard that once I go to a Chiropractor I will always have to go.  Is this true?
A.  No. Not if you don't want to.  But, If you know what helped you get out of the state of dis-ease you were in before entering the office why then would you not want to come in for a check-up to continue to reap the benefits of well being?
Q.   Does the adjustment hurt?
A.   Everybody has a different experience. Some have told me they felt nothing, others have felt a little discomfort that was immediately followed by relief of prior symptoms.
Q.   How can upper cervical adjustments help my low back problem.
A.   Once the head, and neck are aligned by the adjustment the nerve system is able to supply the parts of the body that
are lacking vital energy needed to function optimally. The body goes into a more balanced and relaxed state thereby relieving much of the symptoms caused by the imbalance that  previously existed.
Q.   Does insurance cover this adjustment?
A.   Yes.
Q.   I have never heard of this before, is it a new treatment?
A.   No.  Dr. BJ Palmer the developer of Chiropractic discovered this adjustment in the early 1900's.
Q.   Are all Doctor's of Chiropractic certified in Upper Cervical Specific Care?
A.   No. There is special training necessary to receive certification.
